GPS Data Master Landing Page

Hi, thanks for indulging me. Please leave a comment letting me know if there are any features you'd like added to the app. Obviously it'll never compare to your car's GPS system, but there are certainly improvements I can make. Maybe bookmark this page and come back to it later. Visit my reviews blog to read reviews of some of the latest PlayBook apps and games.

And, why not check out one of my other apps:

Completionist - A fast-paced pop culture trivia game.

Scooter Wants Cheese - A fun maze game where you help Scooter the mouse reach his cheese

Lapse Master - Time Lapse Photography

Awesome Word Search - Word search puzzles with over 12,000 words in more than 40 categories

Word Scramble - Word Jumble puzzles

Awesome Sudoku - The classic number game with nearly infinite puzzles and three kinds of hinting

Answer Ball - The answers to the mysteries of the universe are yours... in ball form

Only a Buck - Five apps in one, all for less than a dollar

Or, you could donate. I don't expect you to, but a buck or two would be most appreciated.

  1. I'll see if there are any features from that app that I might be able to incorporate into my own.

  4. It's probably not actually hanging. If you haven't used the GPS in a long time, it can take a very long time to acquire a signal. Or, if you're blocked by some tall buildings or something, you might not get a signal at all. That's just how the hardware works, and there's not much any app can do to help.

  6. I'm not sure why it won't load. Send an email to alex@botplace.com with more details, and I'll see what I can do to help.

  8. If you haven't used the GPS in a while, or if you don't have a clear view of the sky, it can take a very long time to acquire a GPS signal. In rare cases, I've heard it can take up to 30 minutes. This is a limitation of the hardware, and there's not much any app can do. If you use it on a regular basis, it should get a signal faster after the first time.

If it doesn't acquire a GPS signal at all, then you may be in an obstructed area, or your hardware may be damaged.

  12. Thanks for the free app. I just downloaded it so I don't have any suggestions as of yet. However, if you don't have it on there yet, an offline map for Albuquerque, New Mexico (and surrounding area) would be very helpful. Thanks again!

  14. If your PlayBook hangs on acquiring a gps signal, do the following:
Go outside away from any major obstructions and reset your playbook.
To all the thickies who clearly don't read anything or do any research for themselves the fault is NOT with the application, it is with the gps receiver.

  15. I doubt you will add this feature but I would love to see a PlayBook app that uses gps data to display location on a GeoTiff. That is an application I would purchase.

  16. Just upgraded to ver. 1.10.9 on BB PlayBook. Unable to retrieve GPS data. How can I install the previous version that worked?

    1. Version 1.10.9 fixed a typo in the instructions. Any issues you're having are unrelated to the upgrade.

  17. Hi Alex! Thanks for a great app, it worked beautifully on my Q10 and later on my Z30 (restored from the Q10 backup). But now I can't seem to be able to reinstall it from BBWorld, the error is "unsupported device". Can you please check if the app is published for all devices correctly? Thank you!

    1. Hi Andrei. Unfortunately, GPS Data Master was originally developed for the Playbook, so it was built using Adobe Air. BlackBerry dropped support for Air in the 10.3.1 OS update, so any app made with it (which is a substantial number) will no longer function.

Aside from completely rewriting the app, there's nothing I can do.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email me.
